Coconut Oil vs Seed Oils: Why NOSHY says “No”

Coconut Oil vs Seed Oils: Why NOSHY says “No”

At NOSHY, we believe snacking should be simple, nourishing, and delicious—never complicated with unnecessary ingredients.

One of the biggest choices we made early on was to skip seed oils and instead use coconut oil in some of our recipes. But why does this matter? Let’s break down why no seed oils.

What’s the Deal with Seed Oils?

Seed oils—like soybean, canola, sunflower, and corn oil—are found in almost everything on grocery shelves. They’re cheap, widely used, and easy for manufacturers to add to packaged foods.

The problem?

  • They’re highly processed (extracted with chemical solvents, bleached, and deodorized).
  • They're packed with omega-6 fatty acids. While we need some omega-6 most diets already have too much, and this imbalance can fuel inflammation in the body.
  • They're unstable when heated, meaning they can oxidize and form harmful compounds during cooking and processing.

Basically, seed oils sneak into your diet and may not be doing your long-term health any favors.

Why Coconut Oil Wins

Unlike seed oils, coconut oil is a minimally processed fat made by pressing the meat of coconuts. Here's why we love it:

  • Rich in MCT's (medium-chain triglycerides) these fats are quickly converted into energy instead of being stored, giving you a clean energy boost.
  • Heat Stable - coconut oil holds up well so it doesn't break down into harmful compounds.
  • Supports balance - some research shows coconut oil may help raise HDL (the "good" cholesterol)
  • Simple & Clean - just pressed from coconut, without the industrial steps seed oils go through

At NOSHY every ingredient has a purpose - and every bite reflects our belief that real food should fuel, not fake it. By skipping seed oils and choosing clean, natural fats like coconut oil, we're keeping your snacks simple, balanced and full of flavor.

Because better ingredients don't just taste better, they make you feel better.

Wholesome Bites, Big Smiles - that's the NOSHY way.
